Navy jack is a graded sand-and-pea-gravel mix used as bedding under pavers, flagstone, and underground pipe. The 'graded' part means it compacts well without shifting. Standard for residential paver patios in the Lower Mainland.
Fill sand is bulk sand for raising grade — coarser, cheaper, not for finish work. Mason sand is fine, washed sand for mortar mixes (brick laying, stone work). They cost differently and are used differently.
Standard install is 1" of bedding sand under the pavers. A 100 sq ft patio needs about 0.3 cubic yards. Call us with patio dimensions and we'll work out the exact order.
We deliver bagged play sand or bulk play sand for sandbox and play-area use. Beach-style decorative sand for landscape features available — call us for specifics.
Generally yes for fill sand. Specialty sands (paver sand, mason sand, navy jack) cost more because of processing. Per yard, fill sand is the cheapest, mason sand and paver sand are mid-priced.
